A tree...
Sorry I've been absent the past few days, we just seemed to get bogged down in day-to-day living. This temp job I've taken is taking a bigger toll than I expected! What was I thinking? Anyway, enough with the lame excuses - instead I'd like to tell you about a book the kids & I picked up yesterday at the local library...
"Our Tree Named Steve"
I don't want to give too much away, but trust me when I say it was sweet! I was telling Meghan about the book tonight & Amy Lee was so excited to chime in with his version of the story! It's definitely on our Amazon list. Check it out!

Have you heard?
We are officially in mourning, we knew this day would come...our good friends and neighbors are moving... they say it's only a mile away, but it seems like Timbuktu...who will we enjoy our evening stoop beers with? Who will I borrow the ketchup desperately needed for dinner? Who will they call when an allergic reaction hits? I mean who is going to spy on them 24/7 like Gladys Kravitz?
But, they promise to come around...As one of the founding families of our Neighborhood Wednesday Evening Dinner's they will always be invited and included no matter where they live, even if it is Timbuktu!
Now if only their realtor can find a nice, young couple with 2 children, preferably a boy & a girl between the ages of 2-6. Oh, and they can't be stingey with their stuff because I will need to borrow something...

Phi Mu
Tonight I had the pleasure of photographing the Phi Mu formal...what made this an interesting night is the fact that nearly 20 years ago I myself was a Phi Mu...hard to believe but true. Let me just tell you - some things never change!
Girls in formal dresses - check
Guys in suits - check
Drunk guy puking on the bus on the way to the formal - check (except this time he wasn't my date!)
Lots of cheek to cheek photographs - check
Cruel, but probably true, awards - "Most Drunk" "Most ridden like a bike..." - check
Clarence Carter's "Strokin'" on the dance floor - check (yes I danced to this one, no I didn't get most drunk...)
Seriously, I had a great time, thanks to Sarah for asking me to do this! Love in our bond!

Fashionista!
This child is going to drive me crazy! Yes, I realize she is only 2 and that even if the God's of Daughters shine down bright on me, there will be at least another 18 years the two of us fighting over her clothing choices! The past few days have been tough - she's adamant about what she wants to wear and what she doesn't...it helps if it's pink, unless it's the pink sweater with the wrinkle in it...she prefers skirts and short sleeves...and you all know this, the shoes must have a heel...she's killin' me! And, where did she get this grand interest in clothes? Obviously not from her mama, I prefer comfortable shoes and if the pants don't create too much of a muffin top...I'll wear them!

Wednesday Night April 9, 2008
YAY! They've returned! Our weekly neighborhood dinners! Tonight was the first one of this year and we had a great turnout! Lots of good food too! We've decided to switch things up a bit and make the dinners potluck instead of relying on the host for everything! The kids really had a good time playing together!
What do you think about those azaleas? Believe it or not I was standing up when I took this picture! That azalea bush is easily over 6.5 feet tall! It's absolutely beautiful when in full bloom.
*and finally, no one commented on their double-dog dare to do something silly...honestly, yesterday I didn't even leave the house, so the chance to act out my impulses were limited...But today, in the car, coming home from Publix, at a stop light, some REM blasting from the radio...I sang and jigged like no one's business! I think I added a little extra "umph" just thinking about my dare...come on fess up - what have you done? It's not too late...

Sweet Lou
Looking through my blog I realized that I haven't posted much of my girl lately. Nothing new to report other than the fact that it is 10:36pm and she is sitting here with me, on the table coloring, waiting for her dad to get home from school...I know she should be in bed, but she doesn't want to "nap." What would Nanny 911 say? She could probably write a book on our family!

Never giving in!
I love this picture! I have NO idea who this woman is...just saw her at the baseball game the other night & HAD to have this picture! Now this woman was old...at least 60 years old (just kidding Mom!) and here she was at a AA baseball game all dolled up! I mean how many woman do you see above the age of 6 with bows in their hair? Do you think she cares? I like to imagine that she was thinking how pretty she looked with a bow in her hair, how young it made her feel - put a little kick into her evening at the game! That's what I'm talkin' about...who cares? Just do what makes you feel good! Let 'em talk about you - I double dog you...tomorrow you do something that makes you feel good, regardless of how it's going to make you look...then come back here and let me know about it, or blog about it on your blog and leave us a link! The sillier the better!

Stars...
We're home after a few days at my mothers - where we had a great, relaxing, food filled time! On Thursday night we took the kids to the opening night of the local AA baseball team. Here's my boy with the mascot - he really had a good time.
*a funny from tonight...well at least funny to us...
*a funny from tonight...well at least funny to us...
I was putting him to bed and tried to take one of the 4 pillows he had in bed with him and he said that he wanted to keep all four of them because "there are four pillows - and I'm four!" So I said to him "how did you get to be so smart?" and he pointed to his head and said "I just think it up in my brain."

Spring Break!
One of the perks of being married to a college professor is Spring Break...which is why we have indulged our children and are visiting what very well may be their favorite person...GRANNA! oh and Ben too! This means that I won't be able to upload any pictures until I return home...sorry!
I did however want to share with y'all a fantastic movie we saw recently...
It's a foreign film, directed by Mira Nair who also directed Monsoon Wedding, another favorite of mine! Although this is considered a foreign film, much of it takes place in the United States and English is primarily spoken. We are huge fans of Netflix, which makes it possible for us to watch great movies like this one! I highly recommend it to those of you who enjoy these types of movies.
Leave me a comment if you've seen it or if you have another great movie to recommend!
