Tonight we had a street party, we closed the block & everyone brought food, lots of yummy food! Have I told you that we live in the BEST neighborhood in our little town?

Daddy Jim

The reason we went to visit my 'rents is because my Dad is leaving for Iraq Sunday. He'll be gone a year, with one two week visit during that time. My children had a good time with their Daddy Jim, he taught them many questionable things this weekend. . .

Whatta a way to go. . .

The kids & I left Thursday afternoon for my parents house, about 4 hours away. About an hour into our trip our trusty Isuzu Rodeo died. . .on a 2 lane highway, seconds before a major rain. . . needless to say I'm a fervent proponent of roadside assistance! This is where we met the husband and left the car.

Two for you!

Since I've been slack these past few days about posting pictures I thought I'd give you two today!

This 1st picture is of a map that "Amy-Lee" finished today at Montessori. Apparently, it's a big deal to finish your map...when you complete the map you get to walk it around the line & show everyone (we're not exactly sure what that means, but it sounds impressive...especially to a 3 year old!)

Lately, we've been lucky to catch our friend Nate as he rides his bike home from work. Today he stopped & got his fill of Lingenfelter Love!

Oldie but goodie. . .

I've been trying to catch up on editing pictures from the past couple of weeks & haven't had the chance to take any pictures of my kids. . .horrors upon horrors! So, this will have to do, one from exactly a year ago. Where did my baby go?

Urchins

I found these two huddling under some tarp we had up for our dogs. . . thinking of keeping them. . . at least until we find a good home for them. . . I think the little girl is turning two tomorrow. . .

*Speaking of little girl. . . here's a funny! Today we went to the dollar store to pick up last minute goodies for the big par-tay. While we were in line to purchase our goodies this sweet, older woman was standing behind us talking to Lou, telling her how pretty she was. After awhile she turned to Amy-Lee and said to him "aren't you pretty too. . . two pretty girls!" I just kinda looked at him but wasn't going to correct her when all of the sudden as loudly, proudly & masculine as he could he said "I'm not a girl." Of course the woman was embarrassed and tried to cover up by saying something to him about "his pretty curls and how handsome he was." And truthfully, it wasn't that big of a deal, except for the fact that I was so proud of him for standing up & speaking out! I told you it's that damn hair!

What color orange are you?

I found this fun little quiz on line . . . guess what color I am?
***I am Orange***
Bright and intense, you embrace the world and all its opportunities. Change does not intimidate you, even if it's a complete life overhaul. You're a very real person. You aren't scared to show the world who you are.
Check it out for yourself and then let me know what color orange you are!

Gettin' ready!

We are getting ready for Lou's party this weeekend!! Yipee!!
Yes, I make the kids paint in their diaper & underwear. . .
and no I don't paint in mine. . .

It's the hair!

It's no wonder folks often confuse him with a girl. . .
Funny & True story. . . a little boy at his school, Nate, gave him a sharks tooth necklace . . . Nate's Mom was thoroughly confused when she brought the necklace to school and the teachers pointed out my son "Amy-Lee*". . . apparently Nate had been referring to him as a girl . . .
*For the sake of this blog I do call my son Amy-Lee and my daughter Lou. What are the odds that this will scar them psychologically?

Dinner & Friends

Last night we were invited over for dinner by our good friends, Bob & Casey, to meet the newest member of their household...Slavka, who is from The Ukraine and is staying with them this school year.

A group shot for posterity... I chose this particular shot because it was a good one of all the adults, nevermind the children, but then again, they look cute no matter what!

Ooooh Gross!!

I have had a rough time this summer with my little garden...little being the operative word since NOTHING has grown higher than a foot! My tomato plants finally kicked in here towards the end of the summer, that is until this nasty little booger and his friends decided to dine al fresco on them!

"Ten Thirty Can Beyond!!"

I've been super busy these past day with a semi-annual consignment sale where I get a lot of my kids clothes & other goodies. One of the things I bought was a Buzz Lightyear costume for my sweet boy. Remember awhile back when he asked why he could not fly. Well, the following conversation directly relates to that day . . .
Mom: Look, I got you a Buzz Lightyear Costume!
Boy: (Gasping) Now I can fly!
We've now been instructed to refer to him as "Buzz"
"To Infinity & Beyond!!"

Wednesday Night Field Trip

Tonight's Wensday neighborhood dinner was a field trip to Chris & Shanda's house, their 160 year old home! It's a wonderful place with a wonderful yard. Thanks for having us!

Here they are with their 2 boys - Kellan

and Rowan

Stick Man by my Little Man

Alright, I admit it...this post is biased, ok they all are . . . but do you realize how monumental this drawing is? This is his FIRST EVER drawing of a person, EVER! Big time developmental move! He drew all of it all on his own cognizance. There's your head, eyes, eyebrows, nose, mouth, hands, arms, legs, feet, body & your standard neck... that's right, I typed neck...my boy is a genius!

Pop Corn

Have I told you how much she loves corn? Tonight she kept asking for "popcorn, popcorn..." This is a picture of her 2nd ear of corn...
