Are you effin kidding me?

I just got off the phone with my sister - the one with four kids... she told me that her school system sent home a permission slip for parents to sign. Not a permission slip for a field trip to the local zoo, field day or sex education, but a permission slip for parents to sign if they do not want their kids to watch a pre-taped speech by the President of the United States of America...can you even begin to believe that? What in the hell is our country coming to when school kids have to have permission to listen to a speech by their country's current President? Do you really believe, even for one second that this bullshit would have ever occured with our former President - any of them? I mean give me a break! Had something like that happened we would have been ostracized and called "Un-freakin-patriotic" if we'd even thought of keeping little Johnny away from school that day! Seriously, I guess President Obama should be honored since so many ignoramus folk believe he has that much persuasion that he can corrupt their precious children's mind with one speech about staying in school.

He's the President for Godsake - not the blankety blank boogeyman!

we totally watched speeches and stuff that Pres. Bush made before the UN in our government class in High school. that's kind of weird that they have to get the parent's permission- or feel like they have to.

I agree. I have heard about these permission slips all over the country. I do believe this is a new level of racism. Yeah, I said it. Racism. Not about liberals and conservatives.

"The thing that concerned me most was it seemed like a direct channel from the President of the United States to my child."

"The classroom is no place to show a video address from Obama." (that's from a Senator)

YIKES!!!

Crazy world, huh.

No one mentions that Reagan and Bush Sr. spoke to school children.
I wonder if Obama decided to take a trip to Luke's school to speak to the school in person would they make parents sign a permission? Hell no they would not, the school system would be shouting to the heavens about "The President" visiting their school. People need to get a grip and realize how ignorant they sound about not letting their children here a speech from our President of the United States.

Well it seems that Alvin is not the only one in the family who can preach! Tell it like it is Lindsey!

If it makes you feel even a little better Derek and Nate heckled the Tea Party people in town yesterday.

Lauren got her permission slip on Friday. If we did not want our children to watch the video we had to sign and send it back. You had better believe that I DID NOT sign it because I want her to listen to our president. I have friends who said they were not going to let their kids see the video. My feeling is that even if you don't agree with the president or did not vote for him, you can at least show your kids that you and they should have an open mind. I am excited to hear what Lauren thinks about the video. Can't see what all the fuss is about.

If they think he is going to brain wash the kids, then by God let him brain wash the kids to stay in school. That's the only message he is trying to get across.
