Alright, so I missed a day of blogging everyday in November....will ya forgive me if I tell you I was throwing up all day? I'll try & make up for it by posting lots of pictures of precious children! Not my own, but close...my niece & nephews.

Maybe I'll make a poster out of this & hang him up on my wall too! Truthfully, I was really a Hans Solo kinda gal. That Harrison Ford had something special!

Dancing Colors

Today my kids were painting and whenever two colors would run into each other my Girl would shout out... "they're dancing, the colors are dancing!"

Busy, that would be our weekend - busy!! And that's not even counting Halloween which will have to be a later post...

I know you were ready for me to remove those gross grubs...I sure was!

I get lots of inquiries asking how the kids are doing in their new school. Honestly, they love it! We love it as well! That's not to say that there haven't been some rough patches in our adjustment to a new city, new home, new school & new friends! But all in all they are doing well! We were beaming with pride for our girl when she completed her 1st sewing project for Michaelmas - which was a fabulous celebration towards the end of last month. There are lots of celebrations coming up in the next couple of months & I'll be sure to post more!

Grub Town

I walked out one day to check on my kids and to my surprise (and disgust) I found them playing in "Grub Town". Grub Town was little village that they created for the grubs that they had dug up in my Father's garden. On one hand I was quietly throwing up in my mouth - and on the other hand I was taken with their enthusiastic and loving nature towards these nasty little creatures! Oh, the quandaries of motherhood!!

And, let me just tell you - those little buggers can really move!! That one in the last image was truckin' towards that hole!

The other day we went shopping - our 1st girls shopping trip... My girl was feeling a little down because her brother was at a play date, having more fun than she could imagine. In an effort to cheer her up I did what all good mothers do...I bought her a pair of shoes. Actually, two pairs of shoes, practical, but cute winter boots and these beauties. She put them on and proceeded to walk over to the aisle with no carpeting - "click, click, click" went those shoes...

My girl - "You hear that?"
Me - "Yes!"
My girl - "that's the sound of a real woman!"

Family

Did I tell you that a few weeks ago that we went up to TN for a family reunion weekend? We stayed at some great, great cabins - we actually had three of them right next to each other. The weekend was spent catching up, eating, drinking & loads & loads of music! It was so fun to see all these little cousins getting reacquainted & playing with each other! I think there is a whole new generation of musicians! Mimi would be proud!

Happy Birthday Baby!

It's been a full week of birthday celebrations! Let me tell you, we have done FIVE right in this household! Although let me tell you, we are still having a hard time believing that our little baby turned five this week...where does the time go? Her big birthday wish this year was to go to the Aquarium, to which we happily obliged!

This dog drove me crazy!! He was rude, didn't listen to me, ate everything in sight, coughed like a fiend, slobbered, shed like nobody's business, neurotically chased balls, and just tolerated me & the kids. But, he loved my husband unconditionally, and the feeling was mutual!


He will be greatly missed!

AYKM?

Last night, this sweet, beautiful child of mine told me..."I like my friends moms better than you!" Seriously, she did! Then she added..."I like Dad more than you!" She thought about it a minute and said..."No, no, I LOVE him more than you!"

I'm sure you are asking yourself what my infraction was that caused this outburst...I was merely getting her ready for bed. That's it. Getting ready for bed. Can you imagine what is going to spew from her mouth when I tell her she can't go on a date with THAT boy? Hopefully, that will be at least a few years from now!

Christmas card?

This doesn't happen often...and there are very good reasons...

1. Mom is ALWAYS taking the photographs!
2. No one EVER wants to take the 5 minutes it takes to get this photograph!
3. it ALWAYS, ALWAYS ends up with screaming, crying and or fussing!

Don't be surprised if you see this on our 2010 Christmas card...Geez!

Speed Racer

Last weekend my peeps participated in a local 5k race. I'm proud to say that everyone finished, some came in 1st in their race, 1st in their bracket and some came in...says the one who didn't race!!

EMERGENCY!!

Have I got a story for you...

Not long ago, a fire bug was caught in our backyard...a cute firebug at that!

Lucky for us, she was captured on video starting a massive fire that had the potential of really getting out of control!

Fortunately, she also had Catholic blood running through her veins (via DNA) and the guilt caught up with her! She quickly grabbed her smart phone & dialed 911... "Fire! Fire! Fire!" she yelled!!

Before we knew it the fire rescue truck arrived, zooming down the long and treacherous drive...

With little regard to his own safety, the brave and fearless fireman(boy) jumped from the fire rescue truck...

...with little thought, mainly instinct, he grabbed the nearest fire hose, turned it on to powerful, fire dousing capacity...

...and diverted yet another catastrophe...

...Another day saved...

Mission accomplished!

Rainbow Bridge Ceremony

The 1st day of school involved a wonderful Opening Ceremony that included the entire school. It began with each grade processing into the Sanctuary and having their teacher stand up and present the curriculum for the coming year. In some schools this may sound B..O..R..I..N..G - but not here! It sounded fantastical - stories of Ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and Native Americans. Norse Mythology as well as lots of fables, tales and legends. And, don't forget Eurythmy, handwork, foreign languages and woodworking. (Oh, and math & science too!)

Then the pièce de résistance...the crossing of the Rainbow Bridge for the 1st graders. Each 1st grader was taken from their seats by their kindergarten teacher and led to a waiting 8th grader. The 8th grader then presented the rising 1st grader with a rose and took the 1st grader to a specially decorated bridge that the 1st grader crossed alone and greeted on the other side by Ms. Crowely, the 1st grade teacher. Very sweet, very symbolic!

I tried to not worry too much about taking pictures. It's hard for me to let go - but in the end I think it's more important for me to be present in the moment versus photographing the situation!

I love this 1st picture, how nonchalantly he is walking into the Sanctuary - like he does this every day!

Waldorf

This has been a long time coming...we've been dreaming and planning on sending our children to the Waldorf school for years! Finally, that day arrived and man, were we excited! The day started earlier than we are used to - and ended with two new Waldorf students! I can't believe my boy is now in Grade 1 - Amazing! And my Girl, is at the beginning of a two year magical journey, better known as Kindergarten!

Do I even have to tell you how much my boy loves his cousins? Another perk to moving...we are now closer to our cousins & can see them more frequently!
