Sevananda

My favorite place to grocery shop is also my favorite place to pick up to-go food! Sevananda is our local vegetarian food co-op that we belong to and my go-to place for African Peanut soup...yummy! I always wonder what's on the buffet - until yesterday...when I had the brilliant idea to use my cell phone to capture this beauty!!

Advent

This year we are trying something new...making our own advent candles. We started with some sheets of beeswax.

We placed a wick on the wax and then rolled it up!

Some folks required a little assistance...I'm not sayin' who...

Then we added some accoutrements to the candle sticks.

Finally, Dad carved out apples to hold our candles.

We just got home from our Thanksgiving trip to my parents house. This is the 1st time that we haven't stayed with my parents and instead we stayed at my sister's house. Normally, we'd be disappointed not to stay with Granna & Daddy Jim, but the fact that her "favorite" cousin lives at Aunt Jamie's house made it all better!

Recently a good college friend visited and truth be told...my kids were smitten with her! We were only sorry that she didn't get to spend more time with us! Lou was particularly taken with her as is evidenced in the video below... If you know Gena - you know this story!!

I am so tired tonight...this is all I can muster up! We had our 1st official Thanksgiving dinner tonight. Let the holidays begin!!

I have lots of blogs in the pipeline though...exciting news, a nephew to visit, tofurky to consume and family to spend the weekend with! I am going to make the blogging every day this month if it kills me!!

VAAL

Did I tell you? Did I tell you that I have a piece of my work hanging in a museum? Well, yes I do!! It's very exciting!! I am part of an artist group and the LaGrange Art Museum is doing a show featuring works of VAAL members. Did I tell you that it's all very exciting? There was an opening event & everything...they even had wine...very exciting! Truthfully, it was a dream come true for me!

Lantern Walks

Two nights in a row we've joined our classmates & friends from school for the annual Lantern Walk. Talk about beautiful!! I was in awe in every sense!! Obviously, by the glow of the lights, but also from the precious voices singing lantern songs in the cool night as we traipsed through the woods. Ending with tasty homemade gingerbread that awaited us at the end of the walk.

Candle maker

Have I told you how much fun we had at our school's Holiday Fair? Well, in case I haven't pressed upon you how much fun was had...let me give you another exhibit to prove my case... candle dipping!! We all made our own candles!! How messy is that? I mean...How cool is that?

Today, while sitting in Lou's class, practicing the songs for her class' lantern walk, I was completely overcome with love for my children! I have amazing, precious, beautiful children!!

Pocket Lady

We had so much fun yesterday at our school's fall festival!! My kids couldn't wait to meet the pocket lady who wanders the campus in a cloak filled with goodies!! What a wonderful way to support our school and show off for the community!!

Fall Festival

We're off to our schools Fall Festival! So many things to do...the enchantment shop, fish pond, candle making, pocket lady, jump rope making & lots of yummy food! Wish you could come join us!!

color

One really nice thing about moving is that we are now only an hour & some change from our cousins, which means we've been able to see them more often! A few weeks ago I had some mini-sessions in their neck of the woods and we were able to spend the weekend with the cousins! I love this picture - because it reminds me of this scene! A beautiful day, flashes of color in an already colorful location, the kids so excited because they are all together. Pure joy!!

Babies

I found this cute picture today, Lou & her best pal. I can't believe how young and different they look. This picture is from Easter this past year, just about 6 months ago! Its amazing how quickly our babies change!! Some days I wish I could keep them just like they are, right at this moment. Other days...21 can't get here fast enough!!

This poor boy is sick...running to the bathroom, throwing up, sick!! The good news in all of this, as if there is any, my kids can now pretty much make it to the bathroom on their own! This is huge!! Its dramatically cut down on sheet washing, and Mama puking as a result of cleaning up a mess!


I think he has what his sister & I had - on MY BIRTHDAY last week!! That's right, I believe this is the 3rd or 4th birthday in a row that I've been sick! I must be allergic to getting older... Next year I just wants gobs of presents, alright?

Dancing Colors

Today my kids were painting and whenever two colors would run into each other my Girl would shout out... "they're dancing, the colors are dancing!"
