Well, it's official...I now have a SEVEN year old! Don't ask me how this happened - it all has gone so fast!! Everyday I wish time would slow down so that I can preserve these babies of mine...but it hasn't happened yet!
So, for his SEVENTH birthday he asked for a pocket knife - which I guess is a rite of passage for a boy - plus I'd just read a book that said that it was an age appropriate gift. You can imagine his joy when he opened up his present & saw that his birthday wish had come true. His Dad & I went over our strict rules re: knife usage...we keep the knife when it's not in use, he has to ask Mom or Dad for permission to use it and Mom or Dad have to supervise it's use...
However, the point of all those rules is moot when this happens...

Yes, he cut his finger the VERY 1st time he used his knife! And yes, he had asked for permission to use it & was under the direct supervision of his father when this happened...AGH!! It's just like that movie A Christmas Story all over again!!! But in our case it's "No pocket knife, you'll cut your finger off!"
Fortunately for my boy (and me) the cut wasn't quite so bad...
